Kiosk Check-in
A check-in kiosk hands the queue to the attendees themselves. Each person scans the QR code from their confirmation email or types a name or ticket number, confirms the record on screen and, at most kiosks, collects a badge from the printer beside it. Kiosks suit big arrival waves of mostly pre-registered people. Walk-ins, name changes and anyone the system cannot find still need a staffed desk nearby, or the queue just moves from the desk to the kiosk.
UK suppliers say self-service check-in or self-print stations; US vendors say self check-in kiosks or badge kiosks. The term is easy to mix up with on-demand printing: kiosk check-in is about who does the work, on-demand printing is about when the badge is made, and a kiosk can do either one without the other.
eventcloud's Badge Kiosk turns a laptop and the printer beside it into a self-service desk: visitors type their ticket number, or search by name or email if you allow it, check the badge on screen and print it, and printing checks them in. There is no camera scanning at the kiosk, and walk-ins get a ticket first, on their own phone or at your desk.
