Session Scanning
Session scanning moves check-in from the front door to the door of each room. A steward scans everyone arriving at a workshop, a masterclass or a paid session, and the scanner answers on the spot: booked, included with their pass, or not admitted. It keeps paid and capacity-limited sessions honest, shows the organiser real attendance rather than bookings, and produces the record that CPD and CE credits depend on. No scanning, and a paid workshop runs on the honour system.
Session check-in is the plainer UK phrase; US platforms sell session tracking or session attendance tracking. Some systems also scan people out, which measures time in the room for credit hours, while a scan on the way in only proves someone arrived.
In eventcloud, door staff choose the session on the check-in link, and each scan admits or refuses in one step, flags anyone coming back in and updates a running count against capacity on every device at that door. Each session's attendee list then shows who was scanned in and when, with a spreadsheet download, and because there is no exit scan it records arrivals rather than time in the room.
