Lead Retrieval
Lead retrieval turns a conversation at the stand into a record that sales can follow up. A member of the stand team scans the visitor's badge, usually with a phone app or a rented handheld scanner, rates the lead hot, warm or cold, and adds a note or the answers to a couple of qualifying questions. After the show the exhibitor exports the leads or pushes them into a CRM. Organisers bundle it into the exhibitor package or sell it separately, and some leave it to a third-party app.
US shows say lead retrieval; UK and European organisers more often say lead capture or exhibitor lead capture, and everyone calls the device a badge scanner, even when it is a phone. Under UK and EU data protection rules, attendees should know at registration that letting an exhibitor scan them passes their details to that exhibitor, and from the scan onwards the exhibitor answers for that data itself.
In eventcloud, lead retrieval comes with every seat: exhibitors use their own phones to scan the QR code on each attendee's badge or in their event app, rate and qualify each lead, and export their leads to Excel. No charge from us per scanner or per lead. You decide whether exhibitors get it with their pass or buy it at checkout for a price you set.
Questions About This Term.
What is the difference between lead retrieval and check-in scanning?
Check-in scanning admits a person at the entrance and is run by the organiser. Lead retrieval is run by exhibitors at their stands and records who they spoke to, with a rating and notes, so their sales team can follow up.
Do attendees have to agree to have their badge scanned?
Nobody can be made to. In UK and EU practice, organisers explain at registration that letting an exhibitor scan a badge passes the attendee's details to that exhibitor, and anyone can decline a scan at the stand.
