Lead Capture Consent

Lead capture consent decides, before the show, what an exhibitor may do with the details it gets from a scan. The registration form explains which details a scan shares and what exhibitors may use them for, either with a box to tick or with a notice that letting someone scan your badge shares your details with them, and anyone can still decline a scan at the stand. From the moment of the scan, the exhibitor is responsible for that data in its own right, so the rules belong in writing rather than in a stand rep's memory.

UK and European organisers talk about consent or opt-in; US shows often cover scanning in their registration terms instead. Either way, sharing details with an exhibitor is separate from agreeing to marketing email: in the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) set their own conditions, so exhibitors need their own lawful basis before adding a lead to a newsletter.

In eventcloud, you choose which registration answers a scan shares (name and email unless you add more), your form can carry a badge-scanning notice, and every scanner agrees to your rules before their first scan. Who Scanned Me shows each attendee which companies scanned them, unless you switch it off, and erasing an attendee deletes the leads captured by scanning them.
