Door staff are often volunteers, temps or colleagues borrowed for the morning, and setting up an account for each of them is nobody's idea of a good Monday. A PIN link gets round that: the organiser shares one check-in link and a 4-digit PIN, staff open the link in the browser on their own phone or tablet, enter the PIN and start scanning, and the session ends by itself after 12 hours. It only reaches one event, so a steward at one show cannot see another.

PIN link is eventcloud's own name for it. Elsewhere the same idea turns up as a check-in code, an event access code or a device pairing code, and US platforms talk about staff access or check-in app logins. Whatever the name, the question to ask any system is how fast access can be withdrawn when a shift ends or a phone goes missing.

Staff scan the QR or type the nine-digit ticket number, at the entrance or at a session's door, and you can pause the link or change the PIN at any time; the Badge Kiosk has a link and PIN of its own. Coming soon: offline check-in.
