Conference
A conference brings people together around a theme to listen, discuss and meet: keynotes, panels, breakout sessions and the coffee breaks where half the real business gets done. Organisers range from associations and companies to universities and agencies, and the registration has several categories, such as full delegate, day delegate, speaker and sponsor, each with its own fee. Skip that structure and everyone pays the same, wears the same badge and answers the same questions, which suits nobody.
Conference crosses the Atlantic unchanged. The Events Industry Council's glossary describes a conference as participatory and generally smaller than a congress, and US associations call a large recurring conference a convention or an annual meeting. A conference with an exhibition attached is a confex in UK trade vocabulary.
One eventcloud event runs the whole conference: a ticket group per audience, such as delegates, speakers and sponsors, with its own form, prices and badge, and breakout sessions that delegates book as they register.
