A delegate is anyone registered to take part in a conference or congress, whether they paid the full fee or came in on a speaker's pass. Most events have several kinds, such as full delegates, day delegates, speakers, students and press, and each kind tends to have its own fee, its own questions and a badge that tells the room who is who. The delegate list is the organiser's master record, so one mislabelled delegate means a wrong badge and, worse, a missing lunch.

Delegate is the UK and European word, used on delegate passes, in delegate terms and conditions and on the delegate list. In the US the same person is an attendee, and a delegate is someone sent to vote on behalf of a branch or member organisation at a convention, sometimes with an alternate. At an exhibition, the person on the other side of the stand is a visitor.

Speakers, students and full delegates can each have their own ticket group in eventcloud, so each gets the right questions, prices and badge.
