A forum puts discussion ahead of presentations: a moderator, a panel and an audience expected to join in. As a format it is one slot on a programme; as an event name it usually signals a smaller, more senior gathering than a conference, built around debate, such as an industry leaders' forum or a policy forum. Registration often asks more about who people are than what they want to attend, because the mix of people in the room is the point.

Both markets use forum loosely. A forum, a summit and a roundtable can describe much the same event, so the name says more about the tone an organiser wants than about the format, and it pays to read the programme rather than the title.

A forum in eventcloud is set up like any other event, with a ticket group for each audience and a form that asks what the moderator needs to know.
