Floor Plan
The floor plan is an exhibition's map and its sales sheet at once. Before the show, the organiser draws the stands to scale on the hall plan, marks aisles, pillars, fire exits and services, and sells each stand by number, size and position, with corner and island plots usually going first. During the show, the same plan becomes the visitor's map in the show guide or app. An out-of-date floor plan is how two exhibitors end up sold the same corner, which makes for a tense build-up day.
UK and US shows both say floor plan, and US shows also say floor map or booth map; exhibitors find their booth or stand number on it. The venue normally has to approve the plan for fire exits and aisle widths before stands go on sale, so changing it late is rarely as simple as moving a box on a screen.
Coming soon to eventcloud: floor plans and stand sales. Until then, the exhibitor directory on your event website lists stand numbers, so visitors can still find the right stand.
