Shell Scheme

A shell scheme stand arrives ready to use. The organiser's contractor puts up white panel walls in an aluminium frame, adds a fascia board with the exhibitor's name and stand number, lays carpet and usually fits lights and a power socket. The exhibitor brings graphics and products and can be ready in an afternoon, which suits first-time and smaller exhibitors, while bigger ones choose space only and build something grander. Shell scheme is also a decision the organiser makes early, because it fixes the stand grid on the floor plan.

Shell scheme is a UK and European phrase. The nearest US equivalent is pipe and drape, which uses poles and fabric rather than rigid panels, and the US calls a space-only plot a bare booth. The exhibitor manual lists exactly what a shell scheme includes, so read it before promising a client a sink.

In eventcloud, a shell scheme exhibitor's stand staff register on a pass hidden from the public event page, with a badge of its own. Coming soon: floor plans and stand sales.
