Promo Code

A promo code gives a discount to the people who know it. Organisers hand codes to partners, members, alumni, speakers' colleagues and late bookers who just missed the early bird. Each code comes with rules: which tickets it applies to, how many times it can be used, when it expires and sometimes which email addresses may use it. Without limits, a generous code shared on a forum soon becomes the most popular ticket at the event.

UK English says discount code or voucher code; US English says promo code, coupon code or discount code. A promo code is different from an access code, which reveals a hidden ticket rather than lowering a price, though some platforms use one tool for both jobs.

Promo codes in eventcloud take a percentage or a fixed amount off named tickets, add-ons or paid sessions, with use limits, an expiry date and optional email-domain rules; each order takes one code, and a code can be set to skip tickets already at a group rate.
