Early Bird

An early bird rate rewards people for committing before they have to, and it gives the organiser cash and a headcount months before the event. It sits on the ticket price with a deadline the marketing counts down to, and it is normally followed by a standard rate and sometimes a late or onsite rate. The mistake is changing prices by hand: someone forgets on the Friday night of the deadline, and either a weekend of sign-ups pays the wrong price or the early rate keeps selling for a fortnight.

Early bird needs no translation. UK conference fee tables add a late rate, and congresses run early, standard and late fees for every delegate category; US platforms call the whole schedule tiered pricing or ticket tiers. An early bird rate is not a promo code: the early bird price applies to everyone for a set period, while a code applies only to people who have it.

An early bird rate in eventcloud is a price window on a ticket type, so the price moves to the next window by itself when the date arrives, and each window can carry its own group rates.
