Price Window

Most paid events change price at least once: an early bird rate, a standard rate and a higher rate for the last week or the door. A price window is one of those prices, with a start and an end, attached to a single ticket type, and a schedule of windows is how the change happens without anyone logging in at midnight to do it. Each ticket type carries its own schedule, so a student pass and a full pass can change price on different dates.

Outside eventcloud, the same idea goes by price tier, pricing tier or ticket tier on US platforms, and by early, standard and late fees in UK conference and congress fee tables. Tier is a slippery word, though: some platforms use it for a kind of ticket, such as a VIP tier, rather than for a price that changes over time.

If two windows overlap, the one that started first wins. Once a price has sold, its amount and VAT treatment stay fixed so every order keeps what it was charged, but you can still rename it, move its dates or add group rates.
