VAT Inclusive
VAT inclusive means the price on the page is the price the buyer pays, with the tax already inside it. VAT exclusive means the page shows the net price and the VAT is added at checkout. Consumers in the UK expect inclusive prices; business buyers often think in exclusive prices, because their company reclaims the VAT. Switching between the two halfway through a sale changes either the buyer's total or the organiser's net income, and someone only notices at reconciliation.
VAT is the UK and European sales tax, and the UK standard rate is 20%. The US has no VAT: sales tax there is normally added at checkout, so US buyers expect tax-exclusive prices. For events, where the tax is due depends on the event and the buyer, and in the UK business admission is taxed where the event takes place, while stand space follows rules of its own.
eventcloud sets VAT once for the organisation, inclusive or exclusive, for passes, extras and paid sessions alike, with your own tax label, and freezes it onto every order. Coming soon: VAT receipts that show your VAT number.
