Gala
A gala is the black-tie end of the events calendar: a formal dinner with awards, a speaker, entertainment or an auction, in a ballroom full of round tables. Guests book whole tables or individual places, and the registration has to capture names, dietary needs and who wants to sit with whom well before the night. Awards galas add shortlisted entrants and sponsors to the guest list, and charity galas add donations and pledges to the evening.
A UK invitation says gala dinner or awards dinner; a US one says gala, benefit or awards banquet. At a conference the gala dinner is often an optional extra on top of the delegate pass, with its own capacity and its own dietary questions.
A gala dinner in eventcloud can be the event itself, where a table of ten can earn a group rate, or an add-on to a conference pass with a cap that matches the room.
